Unexpected Bollywood Disasters of 2008

Year 2008 was full of surprises for Bollywood. While on one hand we saw 'Singhs' turning the 'Kings' of Bollywood than on the other hand many couldn't live upto to the 'Tashan' they created before their release.

It still stands shocking to digest that the biggies which were expected to be among the top grossers of the year unfortunately met the ill fate. The amount of positive reports they carried pre–release sank without a trace once they hit the screens. Some of these movies listed, though might earn prestigious awards in days to come, but at the box office they couldn't hold firmly.

So without further ado, let's pay our last homage to the unexpected disasters of 2008 with heavy hearts.

TASHAN: This was Bollywood's first unexpected shock of the year. Despite being a YRF movie, presence of stellar cast Saif–Kareena–Akshay–Anil, thunderous music, etc, the movie was one big size zero, nothing in the movie impressed. Everyone in the movie looked like having an attitude problem and Anil Kapoor was difficult to understand.

LOVE STORY 2050: While we were just recovering with TASHAN's poor fate little did we know that there is another such shock waiting with its arms spread for us. With its unique theme– futuristic lovestory, Priyanka–Harman's pairing, Harry Baweja's backing, Harmans looks & dancing style matching up with that of Hrithik's, etc many of us expected the movie would be among the superhits.

In fact quite of us considered that this would prove a perfect launch pad for Harman Baweja. But alas! The movie went down to pits.

DRONA: Even before it could start its publicity, this Abhishek Bachachan–Priyanka Chopra–Kay Kay Menon–Jaya Bachchan starrer was being touted as the next big thing of 2008. The way this Goldie Behl directed film was projected most of us thought after Hrithik, Abhishek would become a popular Indian superhero among kids.

But unfortunately this aspiring superhero couldn't prove his mettle. With Abhishek Bachchan looking like a junior artiste, this superzero film made everyone rush out of the cinema.

KIDNAP: Imraan Khan's newly earned stardom with JAANE TU...YA JAANE NA's immense success and Sanjay Gadhvi's blockbuster DHOOM series left us under the impression that this Sanjay Dutt–Imraan Khan–Minissha Lamba starrer will once again create 'Dhoom' across nation. But somehow the movie lost focus on the story and trained its lens only on Minissha's cleavage. What about the story? Forget it, the audience was held at ransom.

KARZZZZ: After Himesh Reshammiya's successful acting debut AAP KAA SURROOR..., industry started thinking that even acting is Himesh's cup of tea so much so that the makers of the film could not think otherwise. Surprisingly this time even Himesh's music could not pull much of the aam janta to the theatres.

YUVVRAAJ: Starring one of the most popular pair off screen Salman & Katrina, this Subhash Ghai directed film couldn't live upto its expectations it created. He was so much indulged in making this movie and the hype was so high – that some even started calling it as Showman Subhash Ghai's best works till date.

Even A R Rahman's soulful music, presence of industry's lucky mascot Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor being the part of the film couldn't save this dramatically slow pace movie and as you know the results this 'Yuvvraaj' couldn't save his film from sinking.
